My Magical Christmas Village 2018

Setting up & Enjoying my Christmas Village

When I was a little girl I would play for hours with our doll house, and setting up my Christmas village is a path back to those happy childhood memories.

I bought my first piece almost 20 years ago. Every year I add a little something to it. The village has gone from being set up on a coffee table to a card table, and then my husband built a removable set of tables for our living room window seat where the village resides now.

It takes almost a week to bring everything down from the attic (the village is stored in 7 huge bins), to set it all up and then add all the finishing touches. It’s a significant undertaking and the village takes up a lot of room, so we don’t usually also set up a tree when we do the village.

The creator in me loves the set up. The little girl in me loves imagining my miniature self walking through the shops, watching the skaters, walking the snowy path across the bridge to the local pond or searching the skies for Santa.

It’s a little piece of magic in my living room one month out of the year.

Summary

In conclusion, I hope you enjoy touring my village as much as I enjoy it myself!

If you’re interested in starting your own, shop around for deals. Most of my village purchases are from Department 56, though I do like quite a few houses and accessories lately from Lemax. I shop at Amazon and my local Michaels and AC Moore. Occasionally I find a piece at my local HomeGoods or BigLots.

How about you?

If you’ve changed up a display for the holidays, I’d love to hear about it what you’ve done. Please share in the comments below!
